Are the older super heavy style of cabs (plenty on the used market) still worth checking out compared to the newer lightweight cabs we see today? I love the sound of the GK neos and lightweight markbass cabs, even the Rumbles sound great. all I see with the cabs is the heavy weight required...

Anyone using the Gnome Head & Cab?

Looking to pickup either a TC electronic BAM200 & BC208 Or the new Warwick Gnome 200w head and 2x8 cab. both close in price. Mostly for home practice and rehearsals. Both seem cheaper than a 200w combo from Ampeg, Fender, GK & Hartke. Thoughts on which you’d pick?

Yep lockdown has been hard but has worked well here. With Under 100 active cases in our whole country right now. Still a long way before any sort of normality. Even pre all of this I've bought many instruments online. Not too worried about not trying out, this is why we have great forums like this!

well for one I’m in Australia. I’m in a smaller regional city that has 1 music shop. It only stocks entry Basses etc. Our state has been in strict COVID lockdown for months so travel has been prohibited. So yeah that’s kind of why I can’t try Basses.

OK - Update. Just pulled the trigger on a bass! ended up buying a mint 2011 Fender Tony Franklin Fretted in Golden Amber. Has the P sound but also the J bridge for a bit more versatility!

thanks for your input. The Spector neck (24 frets felt a bit large) plus it was a handful being like 42mm at the nut. Also (quite fickle) I didn’t really like the colour. It was a nice sounding bass though. Budget is at the Fender USA Performer Mark (I hope that translates across currencies!)

OP here. Sorry about missing some key info. I’ve been mulling it over and have come to these conclusions. 1. I’d like a P/J. 2. I’d like a more Jazz width neck 3.I’d prefer a USA made instrument 4. I’d prefer passive (not 100% set on 3/4 as it’s hard to find something to suit this setup)...

Just sold my other bass, a Spector with active J’s. It was great but keen on trying something different. but no, I only have one bass now, the Sterling.

My main bass is a USA EBMM Sterling single bridge Humbucker model. Looking to get another bass to give me an alternative sound for recording. Having a hard time choosing which one, (COVID) ruling out any hands on playing. Just wondering what others would grab as an alternative to the Music...

Just pulled the trigger on a purchase on eBay. Got an awesome deal on an EBBM Sterling (the USA model) I have to wait until the weekend to go and pick it up (will be a long wait)
