Smoothest roundwounds that hurt fingers the least?

Thanks for the offer, wiscoaster. I have the Ernie Ball Super Slinky coming on Wednesday and I've just ordered (more expensive) some GHS Pressurewound roller wound 44-102 gauge so when they both come I'll run my fingers up and down them to decide which would be best. But fitting them and playing...

Smoothest roundwounds that hurt fingers the least?

Have they always been that price or have they jumped on the bandwagon and are using Ukraine as an excuse to hike up the prices (seems everything has some part or another coming from Ukraine these days) ;)

Thomas probably do, but due to Brexit and all that import duty is added and it takes 5 weeks. But that's still too much. I'll see what the EB strings are like when they arrive on Wednesday.

Smoothest roundwounds that hurt fingers the least?

Holy crap. £63??? Is that for real? Ok, they are definitely out. For an instrument I hardly ever play, and given Ernie Ball are £19 I figured £35 would be expensive, and the very most I'd pay for bass strings. Again, only because I just don't play enough to justify that sort of money. Thanks for...

Smoothest roundwounds that hurt fingers the least?

Thanks so much, everybody. Jonathanhughs, thanks for your post there, much appreciated. Fact is, bass is not my main instrument, piano is, followed by drums. Bass is just something I play to get a baseline down in Logic Pro DI’d and occasionally playing the odd song through along to a CD for...

Thanks guys. I've got enough to go on from your kind posts now to make a more informed choice - and practice more ;)

Smoothest roundwounds that hurt fingers the least?

Thanks, guys. Elixir sounded nice until I read a few reviews where people say they only feel slick and smooth until the coating starts to wear off, they they don't feel so great so at the price they cost I'd rather not go down that road. TIJR, well, I'm in the UK and they are a struggle to find...

Smoothest roundwounds that hurt fingers the least?

Can you guys be kind enough to tell me, from your years of experience and trying different strings, which brand and model of regular roundwound strings are the smoothest and easiest on the fingers, the ones that have the least amount of 'cheese grater' tearing away at the skin on the tips of...

D’Addario Half Rounds or Ernie Ball Roundwounds?

D’Addario Half Rounds or Ernie Ball Roundwounds? Just bought another used bass and before setting it up and getting it to my liking I figured I’d buy some new stings, course. But, I do find that regular round wound strings ( I typically use D’Addario EXL170 round wound 45,65,80,100) hurt my...

Bass Gallery, London. Any good for set-ups?

Does anybody have any experience with The Bass Gallery in Camden, London with regard to setting up a bass to a very high and very professional level? I'm looking for somebody new to set up my basses as I've had some questionable experiences with the last two so-called professional bass techs I...
