    Jazz Rascal mod

Checking back in. 1) I put some jazz bass knobs on it and I'm very happy with the looks of the chrome pickup cover so nothing crazy is necessary there. 2) I couldn't be happier with the extra room in front for slapping and popping 3) The variety in is WILD! From a 60s flats sound (with fresh...

    Jazz Rascal mod

Thanks! I'm having a hard time with the chrome pickup sitting right next to the black one, aesthetically wise. The two pickups would look so much more alike if I removed the chrome cover. I pulled off the cover of the pickup I didn't use and it's... A little sketchy but I'm considering...

Did and done! Notes: 1) the neck and bridge pickups were completely different so I stuck with the neck pickup at 8.76 ohms and installed it in the set spot (I had to notch out one ear on the humbucker to make it fit) 2) I replaced the stock tiny green cap with a big orange cap with a treble...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

@Squawk I modified my daughter's Bronco bass with a Geezer EMG P-bass pickup set, then came back to try and remove some weight under the pick guard as she's still only 10. With the high mass bridge (she likes and does not want to remove) before the weight reduction it weighed 7.55lbs. After...

My new pick guard came in yesterday and it looks great! I'll do the mod this weekend and post pics when I'm done.

Ok, I got the pickup, sent my original pick guard into Pick Guard Planet with my design and notes, they sent me an invoice and I just paid it. I decided to use a blend pot instead of the selector switch so I had them drill a smaller hole for that. I'm excited

Normally I'd say to get him a better version of the one he has but please don't get him another Bronco. You could get him either a Fender Standard P bass, a Fender Standard Jazz bass or a Fender Player Plus Active Precision bass (comes with a Jazz pickup as well) and the best part is that you...

    Jazz Rascal mod

Yeah, I don't think there is any chance of a jazz bass pickup not being jazzy enough for me and I'm really sure I'll still like the sound of the same pickups I've been using only one moved to the sweet spot. In any event, all of the mods I'm talking about doing could be undone in an afternoon so...

    Jazz Rascal mod

I love to see so the Rascal appreciation around here! Just a few notes: 1) I intend for the Rascal to be my go-to bass for everything I play 2) I also own a 34" P-bass that I love but I keep it at my office, hence #1 3) the Rascal is just plain cool. As the kids say, it's got the rizz and...

I was actually thinking of splitting the jazz pickup with only one of the coils from the humbucker so hopefully it wouldn't be so hot but I suppose we may see. I love science

Thank you everyone for your help and replies! I like the idea of a rotary switch @TeeSee thanks for the link. I don't hate the idea of simply moving the neck pickup down @PotsdamBass8 but I would like to get some real jazz bass tones without adding another bass to my collection. Maybe using the...

Sorry about that. I can't find a way to delete the thread here. Should I just make an identical thread in 'Basees'?

    Jazz Rascal mod

So I am trying to learn to play slap bass but my Squire Rascal's front pickup gets in the way of my finger when it tries to get under the string for the pop so I thought about moving one pickup to the middle and putting a noiseless jazz pickup behind it. I still need to figure out how I'm going...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

Unfortunately no. The mini-P was only available in red, white and black. I thought a Squire Classic Vibes Mustang was going to be a perfect fit but they were only available in blue and white. She NEEDED a guitar that was a cool color so I did what I had to do. Pictures do no justice for that...
