    OD help...

Hey there fellow TBers. I've been considering getting an OD pedal to add a little more punch and grind to my sound, and I'm wondering what are some suggestions. I'm not looking for a lot of dirt, just something extra. The sound I like with OD is turning the bass volume down so I don't get so...

    Band direction disagreement

Advice is always nice from a real musician, especially a successful one. I don't think he'd be pissed, and he'll probably come around, considering no one else he knows can play an instrument worth a ****. I think I heard you guys on on the Atticus IV compilation. Pretty catchy stuff.

    Band direction disagreement

Thanks for the input guys. I think that we can work it out, and I'd hate to see him go because he's our keyboard player and sings co-lead vocals (it just works. I don't know), as well as being a good friend.

    Band direction disagreement

So I'm in a 5 piece band with a guitar player, a drummer, a singer, and singer/keyboard player and me, the bass player. Now for the problem. The guitar player, the drummer, and I want to play some originals, some covers, real shows and develop musically. The keyboard player/singer, however...

    your #1 dream lesson

Steve Harris. That guy knows how to write a damn good song, too.

    Cliff Burton

Those are some really good points. We don't really know what Burton was capable of, and we know pretty well what Harris is capable. I think that Burton would've turned out pretty similar to Harris in many ways, actually. Some people may disagree, but I think that eventually Burton would've...

    Mod vs. Sad

Keep the Modulus. Because you do a lot of road work, the graphite neck is your friend. I had a Modulus shipped from East Bay, CA, where the factory is to Cambridge, MA. The bass arrived IN TUNE and with a perfect set up. I also know the guys who work there, and they're pretty laid back. By not...

    Cliff Burton

A little bit off from the current trend of the thread, but I feel the need to interject into the whole "Harris vs. Burton" thing. I don't think you can compare the two. They were in very different styles of metal. Harris played NWOBHM with flowing melodies, whereas Burton played straight up...

    Good battery powered amp?

No pics. I left my camera to USB cable in St. Louis. That was really stupid.

    Good battery powered amp?

Thanks for all the help guys. No need for more, as I got a 30-watt Pignose (can't remember the model) after talking to some buskers I saw and the guys at the amp shop. Thanks again for the suggestions!

    Good battery powered amp?

If you have a power source to suggest, that would be fine too. I have a couple of different amps that would be more than sufficient for the job. Please keep in mind that the $200 is just a guideline. It can be more than that, but if possible try to keep in around that.

    Five string Epiphone thunderbird

I really like the look of the new one, and all my basses are passive. One has an active/passive switch, but it's ALWAYS one active when playing. I also like the 5-string aspect and the neck-thru. Now where is the money...

    Five string Epiphone thunderbird

http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Thunderbird-ProV-5string-Bass?sku=581656#new Major gas for this, as I want a five string and a Thunderbird. The one thing I'm not sure about are the Epi pickups. But that can be fixed.

    Good battery powered amp?

Sorry for being a n00b at bass amps, but what exactly does that do? I know that I should know, but my knowledge is rather (very) limited about this stuff.

    Good battery powered amp?

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm looking around my local craigslist (Boston area), and not many are available. I figure used would be the way to go. I'll definitely look into your suggestions, too. The quality doesn't matter much. I'm a student and just doing this for some extra money.
