    Strings for Drop C

I figured (and feared) it was setup. I just brought my P Bass in to have it set-up for drop C. Then I got a new bass and would prefer it stay in drop C while my P Bass stay in standard. But I can't afford to do them both...AND have the P Bass re-setup for standard. :( - netgeist

    Strings for Drop C

I'll have to try to some of these out...thanks again. I had to set the action so high that the strings clink like crazy. Is that a function of the wrong strings, set-up or working on technique to get used to playing at such a high action? - netgeist

    Strings for Drop C

Thanks folks...you've given me a lot of options here. Now I need to keep tweaking my action so there isn't string buzz. Getting it just right is turning out to be as complicated as alchemy! Is it bad for a guitar/bass to be left in a drop tuning? Since I am doing CGCF, I'm afraid the truss...

    Strings for Drop C

TBers, I recently starting playing with a band that prefers to do everything in drop C. I'm new to drop tuning...is there a string that will do a better job than something standard? - netgeist

    "This Town" by the Go-Gos

I've been listening to this song lately and though it sounds like the main riff is played on a bass, I can not find any tab or score to say for sure. Do you folks think it is bass or perhaps a baritone guitar? Anyone have tab for it? Thanks, - netgeist

3rd Guitarist has nothing to add.

Keep her. If she's not harming the band, there is no reason to ditch her. Though it sounds sexist, she's helping the band just by being female. That lends itself to a perspective and vocal ranges that mose all-male bands don't have. It also lends itself to marketing the band. If she can sing...

One compression pedal for bass and guitar

I've considered both the Optostomp and Milk Box - so thanks for those suggestions. As luck would have it, someone on this forum is selling the Milk Box, so hopefully I can get that. - netgeist

One compression pedal for bass and guitar

Folks, I am contemplating a compression pedal purchase and I would prefer to buy only one that will work with both bass and guitar. Is that feasible? If so, do I want a guitar pedal or a bass pedal? Thanks, - netgeist

    MIM Fender Precision Bass

****ITEM SOLD**** Folks, I have a Fender P-bass for sale. I don't want to part with it because I love the look of it. It was black with a white pickguard but I put a pearloid on there, which I think looks much better. The pic here is before I put the strings on after the pickguard...

What is the ultimate cliche TB bass?

This bass will be awesome....so awesome that it will have multiple Awesome Cliche Bass Player Club threads. Also, Chicks will pose for photos without it. And then again with it.

    Good pick technique

I'm starting to use a pick, too...for the same reasons you are. What I found is that I started by holding it too tightly, which impacted the sound and also hurt my hand. I've switched to Snarling Dog Brain Picks, which are textured. Since I am no longer concerned about dropping them, my hand...

    Pre-amp, DI, Mixer Confusion

Ok...the fact that there are several cases where devices might do more than one thing might be one of the things that started my confusion. What I want to do is record both active and passive bass into my laptop (bass->amp->?->laptop). While that would usually mean just one instrument, there...
