Don't you know I am here even when I'm away? ;) Busy elsewhere and far behind with reading and listening to all your posts. Thanks for caring, folks. Stay safe!

Definitely a good mic, but nothing more. Imho, it's success is largely owed to the incredible catalogue of stars that have used it live. And they used it live because it was given to them by the sound engineers which like the robust and trouble-free performance plus they got used to this mic...

Well, as long as the audience obeys that signs, it's fine.

Imho, humidity is the worst natural enemy of mics. Therefore do not put them away into possibly airtight cases directly after the use. Let them dry in a safe place, maybe even at home. And it's not just the basket and foam inlay that take a lot of gunk over the year, it's also the membrane...

@GonePlaid What happened to the old mic? By the way, D1000s are available for $140-180 on Ebay.

Especially for voices the D 1000E is a very useful mic and due to the 3-way filter switch quite versatile. I have a D 125 (instrument/voice, also broadcast and voice over) that is similar to the D 1000, but lacks the switch. As a teenager I got one of the famous D 12s. Originally designed for...

In Europe and especially Germany as Europe's biggest national market 45s were just as important as they were in the US, UK or elsewehere. Regarding the actual records, distribution (= availability on the market) was an issue up to the mid 1960s. Just as the british kids, germans until then had...

Another awesome girlgroup recording with an incredibly cool bass line. I guess James Brown's bassplayer listened to this more than once before cutting "I Feel Good".

Yeah, my neighbours listen to very good music, too. Being my neighbours they have no other options. Friends used to spread the rumour that I could join AC/DC using an acoustic guitar and still be the loudest guy, but that's just a bl***y lie.

I don't think that is JJ. Both the Chiffons and their label were NY-based. Plus Jamerson recording shedule in 1966 most likely didn't leave time for a trip to NY just to record for a rather small act (plus the label most likly wouldn't have spend the money for that). Also the line is fine, but...

60's bass ain't about dates it's about the heart and sould of it. Very cool band - maybe the horns should work a bit on their tuning.

It is in the shelter of each other that people live. (Irish proverb) Or should live, I dare to demand. My favourite version of Gimme Shelter, for a number of reasons you will easily recognize:

The tv series is based on the books by Volker Kutscher. He wrote nine Gereon-Rath-stories and the first three seasons were huge successes. So I am pretty sure there will be more. Looking at Washington, D.C., here's my song for the day:

The cool thing about the Corona lockdown is you can feel very grown-up, respectable and responsible when watching a 3 hours YT music video. Have some fun!
