I'm in the process of trying to sell my S.U.B. to actually upgrade to a 34. I played one last night and thought it sounded better than an Ernie MM tbh. If I sell it and this gem is still available I want it...w/o a doubt!

That's a high compliment! If I had another bass I would...I love the sound of Sterling and Music Man basses! I'm definitely lookin' to upgrade though. If you have a pickguard you want finished similarly I can do that. There's a Galaxy Blue that's sexy as hell too!

This is my Sterling Stingray MM S.U.B. w/ a custom Colorshift 'Gamma Green' paint job I put down on the pickguard. Love how this paint 'shifts'! Matches the abalone control knobs too...

So I wanted to add some life to my bass and I noticed this particular Colorshift paint matches my abalone control knobs a bit. It's a discontinued paint from Rustoleum, but I happened to run across just ONE lady on letgo that had it. Also applied a different Colorshift to the Phillips screw...

Guitar Center has them on sale right now "in-store" for $7.97. Just stocked up with three packs!!!

@And I Keep that 4 string...I couldn't agree with you more on that! I made that mistake in the past and had to erase it quickly...4 rig is my b*tch!!!

I play a lot of funky slap bass aside from everything else. I could never get used to a 5 as hard as I tried...that B string got in the way! So I put a Hipshot Drop D tuner and essentially had my B string when needed.

I here ya Steve...I'm assuming you always used flats? I'd really be diggin' in trying to get the proper sound had I tried learning slap with flats!

I'm also a bass newbie let alone trying to learn slap right off the bat. An update to this thread though...now that I've got many more hours of practice time in I've developed much more control, so now I don't even 'dig in' to the body anymore. It jus' takes passion, dedication, and practice.
