Improving the sound of a bass cabinet

I have a Fender Rumble 15 I use in the practice room. It used to be booming on some note and dead on others. I tried a compressor, with limited success. I was ready to buy something else. Then as a final fix I decided to deaden the cab. I got some 10mm thick carpet underlay and lined the cab...

    Guild B-302 bass

I bought a 1978 B-302 in 1979.Barely been used. I still have some 43 years later. So needless to say I love it. I’ve played in many bands covering many different music styles. The amplification is key to getting the best out of a B-302. I used a Peavy combo with parametrics for years. More...

NBD! Ibanez Talman TMB30 30"short scale bass!

    Hearing aids

Many thanks to Joe & Pete, there’s a mountain of very practical advice in there. It’s amazing to learn you found little difference between HAs costing $4500 & $250. I’m guess the difference is in build quality and the range of adjustment. Trial and error seems the way to go, bearing in mind the...

That is excellent information. Based on expertise from both musician and audiologist. Thanks Petebase.

    Hearing aids

That’s interesting, I worry that I could adjust my tone so that the bass sounds good to my trebly hearing aid, and consequently sound too bassy to the audience. The question is then, how do you know what it “really” sounds like?.

    Hearing aids

Hi Duke, that’s interesting, what’s the reason you don’t wear them when playing? This is really what my original post was about.

    Hearing AIDS

Hi Brent, That’s a very kind offer, thanks. I’ll be asking my audiologist about the specialist aids you mentioned, and the “try before you buy” option. Great advice, thanks again, Norman

    Hearing aids

Interesting thought. I guess playing a band would add a whole new dynamic to the soundscape. I do play in a band sometimes, the question is does anyone have experience of theses situations, and what was the effect of hear aids vs hearing loss?

    Hearing aids

Hi everyone, I’ve been reading TB forums for a while, but this is my first post. Like a lot of members, I’m not getting any younger I’ve been told recently that I have some hearing loss. I’m considering hearing aids. I’d be interested to hear if anyone out there are using them and if you find...
