I have an ‘86, original owner, and I love the feel, neck, playability of the bass. I’m not crazy about the tone, I think it’s just too hifi for me. Anyone have insight on replacing either the pickups or the circuits?

Have you tried capturing the sound from the Stomp & pedals that you love on the QC and comparing? I just recently acquired a QC and have a few Stomp patches I’m a fan of and was planning on trying just this, but I don’t have the Stomp right now. Would be interesting to know if this works.

I tried using the Subnup TC pedal with the Cali 4, but just wasn’t crazy about the octave down, it seemed overly boomy to me. I’ve used the DigiTech Drop pedal turned down the full octave and that is much better to my ear. Blending with the Dry signal is ok, but you can dial in by percentage...

I recently acquired a Mayones Cali 4 and it is a legit damn nice bass! I’ve paired it with a Digitech Drop pedal and it sounds damn good an octave down. Fun to play easy chords on and great to sit on the couch and noodle. I’m looking forward to traveling with this little beast as well, awesome...
