Hi, Dan! Actually, Klaus' bass originally is an olympic white 1961 P-bass which he sanded lightly and painted very beautifully (see photos) and finished it with nitro-laquering. He still has it today. What a story this bass could tell also ;-) He also did the cover to Beatles' "Revolver"...

The neck on Carl's bass was special in the way that the headstock was finished in a candy-apple glittery red and it said "Fender Bass" not Jazz Bass. Now, THAT is special and I think that alone will have a huge appeal.

You're so right, Dan. They DO owe him one. I would also remind them of Klaus Voormann. A legendary sideman right up there next to Carl, but that's another story.... :D
