I'd refrain from calling it a piece of crap, I've used this bass for years, and it's my baby. I love this ****ing thing, people come up to me at shows asking if it's an Alembic, but I will admit that I had to do a good amount of work to get it going when I bought it.

I've owned mine for a around two years from now, and I don't have a single complaint, I love the bass. I mean, I only play this bass right now, because it's just great. I keep the action pretty low. I've never had a problem with the neck, and the pickups have a really smooth sound to them, but...

I play with my thumb plucking the E and some times the A, while pointer, middle, and ring fingers are either plucking strumming melodies on the higher 2 or 3. Also, I do a lot of strumming which involves hitting my nails off of the strings.

I've been pondering buying a set of Alembic bass strings, but I'm hesitant to pay nearly seventy dollars for strings. Does anyone use them? What are they like?
