I had the same problem and put a thumbrest between pups paralelle to the B . You have to move your hand 1/2" to the side ,but it works fine for me. If you don't want make a hole in your bass, use tape or tack-it to try first . If it works ? Mount it ,if not .Don't .

I've tried alot of cabs but I finally found the right one, Mesa 1516. I use a Hartge LH 1000 head and it's just right .Maybe I'll be happier with Mesa 400+ head thats made for for that cab but ..I'm happy as is for now . No need to look for something better when I'm satisfied .

I think he means stringtension on the Stringtension is lower on rhe B compared to the other strings . What I do is buy 4str set from 40-100 and a 5 str set 45-125. I put the 5 set on one of my 4s and 40-100+ 125 on my 5str .I prefer this bexause similar tension and I don't play my 5 much since...

When I need new strings for my 5er(35") I usually buy 45-125 and then I buy A set of 4 strings,40-100. I put 45-105 on one of my 4str (34") and 40-100+125 on the 5str. I think it's pretty much the same tension on both the 4 & 5 string bass that way .And the B get more bite. My way and it works...

Try to go from 125 to 130 and keep the rest as is .Then it will be little tighter

You use what you like no matter how many strings it has. Personally I prefer 4str with D-tuner at the moment but I also have a 5str and two prec and jazz fretless. I know I don't need 3 4str but # is my first bass , the second is the same as #1 but with 14 on the end of serialnr .#1 has 12...

I bought a 5 str but I hardly ever use it , it's more of a just i case I might need that low B, but . My 5str ha 35" scale and my 4s has 34.then you have to strech yor fingers more but anyway it is might be easier for some to learn hard stuff on a 5 str since there is less space between strings...
