I own both. I have two US Fender P-Basses ('06 and '19) and a Yamaha BB300. To me, the Yamaha isn't really a P-bass. It's more of a bass with a pickup in the "sweet spot", not unlike an Epiphone Jack Casady or a G&L 1000. If you're looking for a real P-bass sound, you can get close... but it's...
