    Yes, I feel the difference in the rest stroke, and I'm sure I'll see others on the path. A pick creates a crisper sound, the fingers throb.

    A pick will work, but there is also a mindset involved. It's easier to 'think bass' without a pick. You may be harassed for using a pick...

    To be fair, I’ve had acoustic guitar finger picking impede the way I play with my fingers. My finger technique just evolved over time.
