I just noticed the jump today as well :( I had played the "Classic Natural" cutlass bass the last couple of times I was at Sweetwater and it was a joy to play... but after a $550 price increase I wish I'd never even picked it up.

I have a Schecter C-4 which I've now had for 9 years and have been very happy with. However, if I was able to pick out a few basses to have in addition, I'd take an 80s Ibanez Roadstar II bass with a maple neck and put flatwound strings on it; I'd pick up one of those Squier fretless p-basses...
