    What bass is this?

I recently bought a second-hand active bass which on the face of it is a Mexican-made Fender Jazz. It has "deluxe series" engraved on the headstock and a serial number, and would seem to be authentic. However looking online to try and get detailed information about the control knobs I read time...

    Acoustic flatwound problem?

I have been given conflicting advice and I would appreciate feedback from others who may know more than I do about the way guitars work. I was thinking of replacing the strings on my long-scale acoustic bass with flatwounds, for the sake of the sound and the tone this produces. However the...

    Peavey or Squier?

I would appreciate some guidance or opinions on my dilemma. I have two Peavey four-string basses: one a "Grind" model in natural wood finish - looks nice, perhaps a bit basic. The other is a "Sarzo" signature, active bass. Had a couple of knocks but still very good to play. Curious feature is...

    Electronic tutor

Hi This is going to sound very amateurish I am afraid, but I have recently taken up bass and I am enjoying it immensely, but the electronics completely baffle me. All the "teach yourself" type of books I have come across concentrate on styles and playing techniques but none of them seem to...
