Not getting the p bass sound I want from my Yamaha bb234

I really like my bbp34. I find what makes it different from a p the most is the ergonomics (neck shape, body shape, j pickup location) and the linear tone pot, not the sound of the pickup with the neck soloed. Of course, p’s at different price points will sound a little different from each...

If You Were Doing A Gear Purge… How Would You Proceed.

I have had pretty good results using reverb. I take pictures, describe it honestly and accurately, and list it at the middle of the recommended price. Reverb offers a deal on shipping and ships insured (worth it for anything of $1000 or more in value - I haven’t sold anything that got lost, but...

Would a Stingray HH sound like a Stingray H with the bridge pickup soloed?

Or, maybe 16cc’s, now that I have had a few, so 13-14 grams for the high side, which really seems like a lot less then I’d guess for a roughly 10x92x18mm piece of mahogany Anyway I couldn’t feel sub 100 gram differences when I was endurance cycling and I bet I still can’t.

Would a Stingray HH sound like a Stingray H with the bridge pickup soloed?

Whether it floats or not is a property of density, not weight, and I was kidding. But, since it's that time of day and I have not had enough beer to turn off the brain: A Duncan SJB-1 weighs around 68 grams. I reckon you need to remove at least 160ccs of wood to install one (91.44mm * 18.42mm *...

Would a Stingray HH sound like a Stingray H with the bridge pickup soloed?

Maybe - depends on how boat anchor-ish that wood removed was!

Would a Stingray HH sound like a Stingray H with the bridge pickup soloed?

Theoretically yes, but whether you'd be able to tell is a different question. The biggest impact is a reduction in sustain, but, again, you are not likely to be able to tell. My HH EBMM stingray special has longer sustain than any single-pickup P I have ever played, and my BBP34 also has very...

    ibanez soundgear 5-string string spacing

Depends on the bridge used, but per the Ibanez wiki it is either the B25 or the B305 for that model (year of manufacture is the difference, B305 from 2012-2018). I don't think either of those bridges have spacing adjustments. Some newer SRs have variants of the MR-5S bridge that allow up to...

    New Harley Benton aged/relic'd series

FWIW it looks to me like the necks are worn in, too: The non relic'd p bass neck as a uniform finish on the back of the neck, in the images at least. No idea about this otherwise, but a recent reddit thread specifically about buying from Thomann (and specifically HB's) had reports of people...

    Damnation Audio Fan/Appreciation Thread

I find I need to use a Dirt Fixer with mine, but it really depends on what sound I'm going for. It is very easy to end up with too much if you don't have preamp tubes to slam with it.

    Fender Rumble Club

Since this happened with one bass and not the other, that sounds like the bass is the problem. I'd try that bass into other preamps you may have. I'd also try that bass with a different cable.

    GK vs Rumble

Gross. If I was going to get a GK combo, it would be the Legacy 112. That at least is comparable weight wise to the Rumble 800 (though neither that nor the MB 212 is comparable price-wise new).

What are you reading Chapter 4

The first volume of The Book of the New Sun I'm not sure how I missed this one in my youth, probably because a post-peak civilization, dying earth book where the protagonist starts as an apprentice torturer is a bit too serious a book for my old local library.

Amps with low or no fan noise?

The Magellan 800+ has a very quiet fan. The Rumble 800 has a slightly louder fan, but still not that loud.

Fender Custom Shop: Life long customer soured by poor customer support; A Cautionary Tale!!

Something Fender has been getting increasingly difficult about, too. Never mind their web only exclusives; they're just ruthless with mid priced stock unless a shop is very high volume. Affinities for days, though.

Fender Custom Shop: Life long customer soured by poor customer support; A Cautionary Tale!!

Whether or not anyone hates fender (and I still have three instruments with their logo on them), guitar and bass sales have not been great for the last quarter or two, and that's pretty clear from the stock building up and the soft used market. Hell, musician's friend's stupid deal of the day...
