NBD plus sound clips 78 P bass

I notice this bass is missing the bridge and pickup chrome guards. Anyone feel these are important other than for looks? id have thought they might get in the way more than anything?

Nice, yeh I took a risk and picked this up sight unseen. Apart from coming from a smokey owner (needed a good clean and some de-oderizing) its in good shape. The thing i was most worried about was that it would turn out to be a boat anchor. But its totally light and comfortable. happy days. I...

I've gone with medium jumbo fret wire. I have tone Riet p bass pups and a vintage style wilkonson bridge on the way. It's a pain to find the replacement bus sings for the tuners at a reasonable price so I'm just going to replace them all with newies

so I have a new project..... As posted before I acquired an old neck and body of trademe. The make is a New Zealand brand , Jansen. Jansen made guitars and amps in New Zealand back in the 60s when very little else was getting imported into the country. The neck is straight and the truss works...

Suitable bridge for 60s Jansen 'tele bass'

Yeh , I'm happy making pickguard. I have done it before with a 45 degree be el using a router. I'm definitely going to refinish but I won't bother filling routes that are coved by guard. Look, I'm not looking to make this into an amazing bass, but there were very few of these produced and it'd...

Ok I'll try a vintage style fender one, but it wont cover the imprint of the old one. Mind you if I refinish it it won't show so much
