    Wiring problem on Jazz Bass?

After re-wiring, I found the CTS pot was bad. The volume reduced fine till the stop and then the volume jumped back on. If you backed off the stop it would go to almost zero, but never off. I replaced them all with new and changed to linear for the volume pots. One of the two I bought was...

    Wiring problem on Jazz Bass?

The issue is (was) that if you turned the volume pots to zero, it would be like they were at 4. No hum, but full sound and tone, just turned down. Anyway, I decided to blow it up and rewire it to spec. Works fine now. Thanks for your ideas and help. Appreciation!

    Wiring problem on Jazz Bass?

I replaced the ground strap and the problem with the pots continue. Turning both the bridge and the neck pup full cancels out the single coil buzz, but turning them both to zero is not effective. It's quieter, but still has output. I'm no electrician, but I can see the ground is missing from...

    Wiring problem on Jazz Bass?

the pot says 250k matching the others. I can see now that it's probably been changed. Not properly grounded? I took the pickups out and found under each pup a copper/brass plate wired to a brass plate under the pots. The brass plate under the pots is wired to the back of the bridge pup pot...

    Wiring problem on Jazz Bass?

I've got an early 90's Fernandes JB copy. Sounds great but if I turn the volume down completely on both pots there is still sound coming through the amp. Something has to be wrong. I looked at the wiring diagram on StewMac for typical jazz basses and it looks completely different to what I...

Best way to find a jazz neck?

Will the replacement necks by Allparts, Mighty Mite and Warmoth fit my '90 MIJ Jazz?

Best way to find a jazz neck?

I picked up a '90 MIJ fretless Jazz Bass recently. It toured the world and and shows it, but it sounds fantastic. I'd like to swap out the fretless for a fretted neck. I'm confused about how to select one. On ebay there are jazz necks from $100 to $400 or more (way more) for a vintage. I've...

High action on a MIJ Fender JB75 reissue.

He actually did it. But because of the finished maple fretboard, couldn't put the heat to it like a rosewood board. We'd have had to refinish the entire neck. It did improve it though, just not enough.

High action on a MIJ Fender JB75 reissue.

I thought of it, but I'm not sure if it would have been worth the expense or time. I'd have had more into it than the instrument is worth when it's whole and it frees me up to hunt for something better.

High action on a MIJ Fender JB75 reissue.

My luthier (authorized Fender factory service) said it was the worst neck he'd ever seen on a bass. He worked on it for quite a while and got it within bounds and it played ok, but it was at the maximum adjustment available and still not quite right. The truss rod just wasn't strong enough to...

    Dragging/ behind-the-beat

I was guilty of the same thing. Metronome Metronome Metronome. It was tough at first, but now I my phrasing and comping (I play guitar mainly) are much better and "in the pocket".

High action on a MIJ Fender JB75 reissue.

Thanks for your reply. Problem is the neck is not straight. The truss rod has been fully adjusted but there is still too much relief. My luthier said that if I want lower action I should replace the neck as it can't be adjusted further.

High action on a MIJ Fender JB75 reissue.

I'm the proud owner of a natural MIJ Fender JB75 reissue with maple neck and mop inlays in almost perfect condition. I like the bass except for the high action. Truss rod works, but there is a relief to the neck that just won't come out. Talented authorized Fender service guy did the best he...
