strings for my new stingray? I hate EB slinkys...

the thing I most hate of these EB strings is they are too stiff. I like high tension, but these are stiff in a wrong way, I don't like how they react if you dig too much and they hit the frets. It seems like they get stuck into the frets instead of bouncing off the fretboard... (DR hi beams...

strings for my new stingray? I hate EB slinkys...

Hi! I just bought a new EB stingray 4 and I really hate the stock EB strings it came equipped with. Always hated them.... I find the sound of these strings to be boomy and muddy, while retaining an annoying zingness... I tried eqing on the bass and head but I could not get the tone I...

    neck/body alignment on fender basses

well, the pickup needs to be moved at least 1mm towards the treble side... and the only way to align body and neck is to sand the neck pocket, it's pretty tight and I cannot move the neck loosening the screws. I am not sure you can consider this part of a normal setup for a new bass...

how much do euro lx spectors there? it's a killer bass but maybe it's out of your budget if you talk about legend series...

    neck/body alignment on fender basses

If the bass plays and sounds good, it's okay. I am upset because I owned many basses, all of them were cheaper than this fender, but all of them showed better construction and quality control. I expected a bit more of care in the build of an american made bass. Maybe it's just me...

    neck/body alignment on fender basses

well, buying an USA fender and having to spend money on a luthier to solve building issues makes me a bit upset... I once had to do the same to a mim fender, but that was a cheap bass...

    neck/body alignment on fender basses

so my bass is fine? anyway, the basses on the fender website pics have the strings centered on the pickups poles... strings on mine are not centered on the poles. this feels strange because I have never seen a jazz bass with the strings centered on the pickups... :ninja:

passive warwick tone boost - pedal or preamp?

I solved the same problem I had with my corvette installing an active mid booster. I also tried putting the pickups in series. the crappy mec pickups are the real problem on that bass. they sound thin and sterile... with the mid boost cranked, the bass sounded bigger without distorting...

    neck/body alignment on fender basses

I measured string spacing and fretboard placement from center to center... am I wrong?? should I consider the edge of the string, not the center?? :ninja:

    neck/body alignment on fender basses

Already tried, but while the neck pocket has a bit of play, the pickguard is so tight against the neck that it won't let the neck move. Anyway, if you look at the picture on the fender website, my bass looks exactly like that... and the other pictures just show the same alignment issue... so...
