Hartke 115vx....300 watts RMS or 300 watts peak?

I might buy a 250 watt/4 ohms head and will use it with a Hartke 115vx because it's a lighter cab and sounds warmer without Hartke's aluminum cones. The manual for the 115vx says its a 300 watt/8 ohms cab (without referring to RMS or peak). When I look inside the cab, the cone is marked 175...

    Vintage Yamaha Bass Amp/Speaker question

Thanks. I'm able to buy this yamaha B100 with a hartke cab (115 VX 8 ohm/300 watts) for $150. Sounds fine. A little bit of crackle in the pots when making adjustments, but otherwise no noises while I'm playing. Sound like a good deal?

    Vintage Yamaha Bass Amp/Speaker question

What's the right price to pay for a series 1 yamaha B100 head that I'm seeing on Craigslist? It's the version with a distortion nob but not much else. The pots don't crackle or make any other noises. A friend of mine tells me that 100 watts back then is much more than today. What's a good...

Old man...bad back...looking for that old sound...and with little coin.

Dear all my new TB friends....I can't thank you all enough for your insight. You folks are much more helpful and knowledgable than the sales staff at my local GC. Unless someone can talk me out of it, I'll be buying a Fender Rumble 75 later today. Essentially it's only about 7 lbs more than...

Thanks all. I'm going to go try out the Peaveys. The more I read about the Carvin MB210, the more I like it. Anyone out there have a view on the MB210? Is it truly worth $350 with shipping? Thanks.

Old man...bad back...looking for that old sound...and with little coin.

Thanks all. I hadn't thought of the carvin mb10. I like how the mb10 can handle extension cabs. Pricey though. Will I be happy with only a 10 inch speaker? Perhaps I wait longer, save my $, and get a mb210 or mb15 down the road. I can continue to borrow the rumble 60 for awhile - its owner...

Old man...bad back...looking for that old sound...and with little coin.

Help! I'm an old guy, just getting into bass (I'm usually on acoustic guitar, dobro, mando, or piano) as my fabulous wife just bought me a fender jazz for my birthday. In recent gigs and practices I've been borrowing a friend's rumble 60, but at 46 lbs, it's too heavy. Otherwise, it's perfect...
