1951(?) C1, SN 26888 Found in the basement of a music store. Top was sunken under the bridge, wood screws through the top into the bass bar. Lots of scars, probably a school bass. I had it restored but not cosmetically other than the black paint removed from the fingerboard which is walnut(?)...

Mine is very stiff to turn as well. I've loosened it probably 3/4 of a turn over a few days and seem to have it in good adjustment, but yeah, same concern here.

Here she is. Sustain is nil C# and D on the G string, but I've become accustomed to this to some degree on virtually every bass I've played.

Thanks for the info. Chicago Music Exchange had it here in four days. I'll pull the neck today and see if it's just what you describe. I would think the end of the rod is squared and internal threaded so the wheel will be held by a screw. Hoping that's the case and that the screw is just loose...

Had it apart. The wheel just presses in to the truss rod. I pressed it in but didn't think to put a little glue in there. Feels solid now. I think she's a keeper.

I have an mb-2 5 string and am looking to get a four string. The 35" scale bothers me more than I thought it would. Just enough difference that, on a fretless bass, it throws me off.

Question..., I just got a MetroExpress PJ fretless and I'm liking the bass very much. Does anyone know about how the truss rod adjustment wheel is secured to the truss rod? The wheel is loose and flops slightly when you touch it. Though it's quite tight feeling, the truss rod does take...
