Double Bass strings for diverse playing

My bad, Jimbo USED TO play and endorse weedwackers. I still have one of his signature sets laying around. And yes they cost me right about $15 . I didn't care much for em, especially the big fat E string . Anyway my point is more about being good with what you have regardless of what you paid...

Double Bass strings for diverse playing

I have found that Innovation makes the best "all around string" for the price.(about $130ish a set) 'silver slaps' are a great low tension choice for rockabilly/psychobilly yet you can still get jazzy on em' .The 'super silvers' are a bit higher tension, so even better for jazz/pizz stuff yet...

    Double Bass Injuries

I second that as well. ya gotta take care of your body. I've never had any pain issues with my hands but ther are a few songs that set my right shoulder on fire while slappin' . I too have found that going hard and heavy takes a toll. So i just sorta learned to ease up and let my amp do the...

Double Bass better bang for the buck? Carvin MB1215 or RB510

Thanx Nate74, it's tough because I don't live anywhere near a Carvin dealer and reviews are slim on most of their gear. Ive owned and played bass guitar through lotsa amps so I am familiar with quite a few rigs and configurations. However amplifying my upright is a whole new world to me.

Black Sabbath Vs Led Zeppelin, your preference?

Such a silly thread!!! However, after reading I've gotta put my two cents in. The only thing zep and sabbath have in common is that they're British. (and I am assuming that we are speaking of the original line ups) Both have phenomenal rhythm sections and mediocre vocalists. thats about it...

Double Bass better bang for the buck? Carvin MB1215 or RB510

Thanx for the response! yeah I do like 1215 idea too. My main concern I suppose is running out of head room with only 250 watts as opposed to 500. and I do like the graphic eq on the RB series... I have owned Carvin Guitar amps in the past and have been very happy with em. just never owned any...

Double Bass better bang for the buck? Carvin MB1215 or RB510

ok. Maybe I should have posted this question in the ''newbie'' or ''rockabilly'' forums? I think I made up my mind on my own. Still I am open to suggestions. Thanx!!!

Double Bass better bang for the buck? Carvin MB1215 or RB510

I'm torn between the two. Both portable and cost the same. I like the MB1215 speaker configuration, but is gonna be loud enough for ''most'' situations? But I like the expandability of the RB510 for later on down the road. I'm playing straight forward Rockabilly with an M1, Super Silver strings...

Double Bass Anyone ever purchased from FMI in CA.

I dont know much about the quality of their basses but one thing i can say about FMI is that they ship super fast! I've ordered a pick up and a few different sets of crap weedwhackers all on seperate occasions and I got the stuff in the mail like 2 days later. And I live in Mi. I highly recomend...
