I am in the process of building a bass amp around the KT-150. I'm using a pair at 650vdc and big iron on both the power and output transformers. I built it originally around the KT-120's, but when the KT-150 came out I had to experiment with it. I'm sure I'll do a full write-up with pics once...

I don't think the KT120's require tons more input signal than any other pair of big output tubes. A high voltage PI with a 12AT7 pushes them just into clipping at full tilt. Perhaps if you wanted them to distort as in a guitar amp, but even still a 12AX7 would do a sufficient job. Maybe if...

Funny story, I didn't double check to make sure I was looking at the front of the amp when I started drilling out the tube socket holes, so it ended up backwards... Doh. It was an easy mistake to make, I had the transformer holes drilled but hadn't mounted the components, I wanted to do the...
