I’ve tried Gretsch Thunderjet. Very nice Own a Gretsch Junior Jet 2 PUs. Great sound. Holds tuning well. Also own Hofner CT Club which is very light but strings are closely spaced.
I agree about Pete Farndon. Those 2 first Pretenders albums heavily influenced my bass playing. Would also add Bruce Thomas of The Attractions (Elvis Costello).
I have 8 basses including a Hofner CT Club which has killer semi hollow woody low end but my go-to’s would have to be my 69 Precision and MIM FSR Fender Jazz Live gig fave is my 70s Ampeg V4B but my GK 210 Combo is my day to day amp.
