Also..make sure you aren't using 8 ohms across the output as you won't have the 4 ohm required by the Crown output cutting your power by 1/2 ...I use a Crown for my P.A and had that exact prob..1/2 the output because of 8 ohm instead of 4 ohm load required by my Crown...just a thought

TRY CHANGING THE 12AX7 PREAMP TUBE TO ONE THAT HAS BEEN TESTED TO BE TRUE ..THE SYMPTOM SOUNDS LIKE FAULTY TUBE DRAINING TO ME.

Your Amp Likes 4ohms to start...Turn all the knobs to 12 o'clock make sure the cabs are wired correctly..i.e I use ACOUSTIC (good enough for Jaco Good enough for me) the 410 MKll acoustic will handle 600w RMS easily , I also used GK for years but I noticed a marked difference when I used a mix...

SILVERMANE : It is a LOT of $$$$$ . No you are not nuts for purchasing such an instrument just wealthy. For $9K tho you could buy a really nice custom bass comparable to the Fedora at 1/2 the price and a really nice rig for it. I have played Fodera's, a couple of them when he was starting out...

Grab a cheap used Ibanez SR 200 series , they play well, have a Fender type sound, and you can find them for a less than $200 great buy for a Budget bass or even a used Squire jazz , a bit more $$ say $250 not bad either .
