I'm going to try and check out a GK this weekend at guitar center. I really like that you can plug a powered cab extension into those combos as well.

Mostly a practice amp with some jamming. Versatility in tone is important to me and I reckon my taste veers more towards old school. as I play more I'm sure to get a better sense of what I really like and invest in a more expensive setup.

Ah yes - GK. Would you say a 1x10 GK is a better call than the 1x12 Ampeg? I think they are both about 100 watts.
