Thanks, that's good to know - I had a PB-50 with basswood body that was ok weight wise at just under 9 pounds. It's interesting that they use different woods for each model.

Thanks :) Are yours the JB-75 or JB-20? I think the JB-20 is made of poplar and hopefully lighter than the ash bodied JB-75.

Thanks, I think I'll give one a try - my old Jazz is very heavy and I want a lighter weight one for long gigs.

Hi Waredevil :) I was thinking of ordering a JB-20 and the warmer sound you mention is appealing because I play reggae and I only use the neck pick up with flatwound strings. Is the neck slim like a 60s Fender, or thicker like the HB 50s P bass, which I find much too thick?

The PB-50 arrived today - here's a photo straight out of the box. I haven't had much time with it yet, just a quick check over and plug in to make sure it works. So far I'm very pleased, it seems to be all there and looks great, weight is just under 9 pounds. Set up and intonation are perfect...

Thanks that is very helpful. I have a PB-50 on it's way, so I will wait to see how I like it before ordering the Jazz and maybe a PB Shorty too.

Does anyone here have a HB JB-20? I am considering one and I would like to know what is under the scratch plate. I don't like the white plate so I would like to remove it if there are no ugly routes that need hiding. Otherwise, I might replace it with a black one - I presume this one would fit...

Hi, Can anyone advise which would give the deepest tone for reggae? I like an old school deep, smooth and clear tone with no growl or treble. I have a Bronco with stock pick up and the tone is good, but a bit middy - I can get it deeper with amp EQ and I have some heavy gauge flats on...

Do you consider the Hartke LH1000 suitable for reggae where a very deep, warm and clean tone is the main requirement? I would be going through a single 450w 15" Eminence 3015LF.
