Gauges are 45 - 65 - 85 - 105 They fit properly, just the exact length. If the russian strings are long enough, I will try to bind them where the tail binds, leaving no tail, or a smaller one at least. I think this might improve sound. I think they were bronze only. And don´t worry if they are...

Using now thicker phosphor bronze acoustic strings. Much better sound, I think. Still waiting for those russian strings to arrive.

Thanks a lot. I think I might try those Russian strings. Looks interesting, and not as thick as mandobass strings. After all, I can make a short tailpiece and set strings the same way old Neapolitan mandolins had. Maybe would get better sound. Thanks.

Thanks So, acoustic bass strings doens´t really increase acoustic volume??? In the past, I have used flat and round wound electric for purely acoustic bass, and the flats always produced more volume.

I´m using flatwound electric bass strings (the only I found for 35' scale) Can anyone please tell me if acoustic bass strings really make a difference? Are there any for 35' scale? Thanks.

I apologize for the poor production. Sorry for lack of practice, poor recording sound, poor video quality, etc. Unplugged. Testing strings: not adequate. 4th string tunned on F, because of inadequate string gauge. Need thicker strings.

It is designed to sound unplugged, but I don´t know, I´ve never played doublebass or Guitarron. We´ll see in the videos. Weekend.

For the record, this was built with wood at hand, not necessarily the best. Neck, back & sides, finest peruvian mahogany. Top, Oregon pine (the best I could get at the time, would use spruce for the next ones, I guess) Bridge, tail & fretboard is "Quinilla", almost exactly as rosewood.

Bridge can be regulated for each string separately via allen keys without vibration going through any metal part. Planning on uploading videos this weekend. This is a prototype. First of it´s kind. The way these are built is with shapeframes. Building the shapeframes took more time than...
