Back then, Fender would buy serial number stickers in batches and not re-order until they used up what they had on hand. So an '89 build could get a "86" serial number if they were still using that lot of stickers.

Tuners appear to be a copy of the Gotoh GB707 in whatever plating matches the rest of the hardware. Bridge is a "Badass" style. They are usually 7.5 pounds or so, translates to 3.4 kilograms.

Yes mine is very noisy when used near a computer or cell phone. I think the original pre-amp wasn't designed with those noise sources in mind. Not ususally an issue out playing live.

Astrofan - what cable, what amp, what effects, if any? Where are you playing? Is the noise an issue live?

Mine is only super noisy when running the single pickup close to a noise source like fluorescent lights or a computer. Since I practice in front of a computer I just stay on the double coil. Cavity was lined with graphite based shield paint - also the same thing sold as "slip-plate" plow paint...

Thought I would update everyone - the pad on the circuit board where I attached the 9V+ wire had failed, so I tacked it to another component further down the trace - original preamp is back working.

Can anyone recommend a replacement preamp kit for the P Bass Lyte? My electronics died. Would like to keep stock pickups and not spend too much $$$ if I can help it.
