I put the TI flatwounds on my Carvin custom 5 string with J99 p/u's and will never use anything else. I then put a set on my other Carvin custom with Alnico p/u and it sounded like mud. Changed that one to roundwounds. If they ever quit making TI flats i'll go back to GHS flats.

I know I'm weird but right now I have Chromes on the wood bodied LB75 and round on the finished LB75. They are both active, different Pups but I can get any sound i'm looking for with very little messing around. Usually have both basses when gig'n.

Pretty darned pleased with the new PF500...articulate right down to open B, and I too play bass, not treble 'though I like to listen to varied styles. The Carvin 4x10's held together nicely above any volume i'd need to play without PA support (even tho we all patch in for clarity). Both...

Love the 400+. I've had mine close to 8 years. Retubed several times and no real problem. Just get matching pairs and tell them it's for a Mesa 400+. Mine is getting heavier each year....may be going soon.
