    How many rack slots?

the splitting it up into 2 racks is a good idea. I mean obviously if it was all in one and pre wired it would be fast to setup, but it will be heavy. maybe consider the mixer and splitters in one rack - wired up - so think about the depth and the depth of the lids to keep the connectors from...

Bass inspired name for a dog.

I don't think anyone has suggested "Fretless" seems like a cool option.

    Lack of Bass Upfront?

Most mixers have low pass and high pass filters on the channel strip. personally I would rather be able to high pass it at the channel strip and make it fit the PA. This situation is regarding more medium to larger PA systems and Subs being part of the system. If it's a cheap mixer and...

    In ear monitors for bass?

First things first. if going to IEMs or headphones then spend the money on the Ear buds or headphones. Then tackle the body pack or headphone amp. if you don't move around I would go with a wire. You don't have to worry about frequency problems of getting interference and also you won't have...

    XLR wall inputs/outputs

make sure you leave slack in the wall for your XLR wires. its a hell of alot easier to solder plugs when you have a couple of feet to pull out rather than a few inches. very common mistake that makes it a whole lot harder. the other thing you could do is drive the sub with an aux from your...

What's the most famous make of bass you've NEVER HELD?

I own a Ken Smith and love it. I've played a Lakeland and a Fodera. The Fodera was extremely nice. The low end was thick but all warm. no muddiness what so ever. Every note was crystal clear. It played so easy and the action was great. it was used at a music store and was $8000. So I...

    Can I run a 240w amp at 8ohms into a 200w RMS speaker at 8ohm

I’ve seen damage done to LF and HF drivers. But sure more so in a HF driver in a PA system. But remember a lot of these bass systems have the same or similar components. Several cabs now have HF drivers in them. In short I was just saying when you clip an amp you are flattening out the wave...

    Can I run a 240w amp at 8ohms into a 200w RMS speaker at 8ohm

um no. It is very true. I’ve seen it happen many times with horns being popped because the speaker was underpowered and they pushed it too hard and sent the amp into clipping which will damage the system. Anyone that says it’s not doesn’t know what they are talking about. Also there is a thing...

    Can I run a 240w amp at 8ohms into a 200w RMS speaker at 8ohm

You will be fine. You’re actually better off over powering than under powering in a lot of situations. you can run your amp lower and still move the speaker better.

Aguilar TH350 vs GK Legacy 500.

Thx guys for the help. I may hold off and look for used stuff. I am definitely a fan of the legacy 500 through the Aguilar SL212. But damn, dropping 1800 is pretty steep for me right now. Lol

Aguilar TH350 vs GK Legacy 500.

I’m thinking of getting a new bass rig. I’m leaning towards GK leg 500 and a cabinet of some sort like the Aguilar SL112. I would then pair the SL112 with an old Hartke 210XL that I already own. Ive noticed the Aguilar TH350 is close to the same $$ and power to the GK 500. So thoughts on...
