Actually this year when i was playing in my highschool jazz band, ive always stood on the hi hat side but every masterclass our band attended, they told me thats not really a thing anymore, apparently it makes more sense to put the bass on the ride side and move the drummer up to the trombone...
Update i managed to stop the endpin rattle by putiing a pencil grippie behind the top of the pin next to the electronics. Only drawback is i cant move the endpin, but itll be alright, now i just gotta file the bridge a bit.
