Also it's hard to say whether they are NPS or steel, they are not super bright, but steel strings also lose their zingness after a certain time. Is there other strings...

Maybe the Rotosound Roto Bass are a good shout, but I've seen some pictures where they have colored ball ends.

Actually the winding on the A string is a little shorter, on the D string it's a little longer, as seen in this picture:

Yeah, I got the bass used, but I very much doubt these are the original strings. They still sound pretty fresh. Maybe the gritty feel is an indicator, they feel pretty much like Rotosounds, Ernie Ball and most other brands feel much smoother. But Rotosounds have that red coating, so I don't know.

Thanks, it's 94,3 cm or 37,125 inches. IMO they are both 105s, but I don't have a caliper at home. The old strings maybe look thicker because of the thicker windings, but they look and feel like the same gauge to me.

I recently bought a 64 Reissue Jazz Bass which sounded absolutely great, but when I changed strings to Ernie Ball Slinkys, it didn't sound so good anymore. I mean it's close, but the strings that came with the bass just have a thicker sound with better low end and mids. They look somewhat...
