I bought an old non-working Polytone bass pickup from eBay as a gamble / project, but I can't find any information about it online: I know it goes between the legs of the bridge, but I don't know about how it is supposed to go together, what impedance I expect to get from it, or... er... how I...

I chose BP 100 because I can dial in a bit of extra bass kick if I need it, but for lighter, more minimalist gigs I can't really dial in extra top end using my Shadow. If you fill the f-holes with neoprene or foam rubber, the BP 100 can handle as loud as I can. Which isn't very loud, truth be told.

Please excuse the thread necromancy. I am currently in the market for a new (to me, anyway) bass, and I (will) have about £2,000 / $3,250 to play with. I could buy something from Europe and be protected by our single market consumer laws, but I wonder is it worth my while looking at Chinese...
