The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club

Downloaded all the Christmas music for this year's services celebrating the birth of our Lord. Surprisingly a couple of repeats from last year, including the "crown jewel" at least from a music/player perspective - Carol of the Bells. The WL actually added in a second TSO piece this year -...

Hey, all.. been a busy busy summer, haven't been around in something approaching forever. Lots happening over the holidays. LS - this happens a lot with our team - rehearsal sometimes is a train wreck, but when we're really doing for our Lord and Savior, he gives us a little helping hand...

back again after a short hiatus.. I saw a Salvation is Here reference on the previous page. Reminds me of another, newer song with a great bass line. Anyone worked on Until the Whole World Hears by Casting Crowns? I've been working on that thing for a couple of weeks now when I practice...

Pretty much same. I run mid on my tone adjust, and crank the highs on my active eq. The subs more than handle the low end. Unless I really boost the highs, it's downright muddy in the house.

Hey, all.. Haven't been around since oh, Easter I think. Or maybe earlier.. Been incredibly busy, both work and musically. Served a lot of weeks both at the worship center and over at our one satellite location, where we have a separate band, playing the same stuff - now coordinated by a...

V- That's pretty much same as my church.. At my previous church, I played bass and did some BGV's and a rare lead vocal. Here, I noticed early on, that the vocalists start off rehearsal in another room, and join the band about half way through. We usually do one run-through of each song...

Ken, I know from whence you come. I too picked up the bass again after 3.5 decades away, to serve in my church (not the one I attend and serve today). After a couple of weeks, I figured out that all that page-turning was just not going to cut it. So, I started memorizing. For me, if I like...

The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 16

We are completely contemporary. Do an occasional adaptation of an old hymn, but mostly Hillsong, Baloche, Gateway, Tomlin, et al.

The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 16

Cool song. First time I've heard Ascend the Hill. The discordant bits are a little different at first.. but interesting. Actually the bass line doesn't really sound all that tough, if you listen and break it down in sections... I'll give it a try tonight when I practice for my next time up...

The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 16

Well, we had a total of 15 songs for the Christmas program, 5 services over 3 days. We rehearsed 3 nights a week the 2 weeks leading up, so (crunching numbers... ) 6 2.5-hour rehearsals... Though we don't get to this level on a weekly basis, the group as a whole is a bunch of really good...

haha.. I couldn't take it in the pit every week. No, the church will bring in the strings and horns from a couple of local college music dept's for the big programs - Easter, Christmas, our annual autumn praise&worship evening, things like that. It's usually 2 guitars (1 electric, 1 acoustic)...

well, it's been a while. Haven't gone back through the posts yet to catch up, but wanted to share this... Had our Christmas program Dec 9, 10 and 11. Was a really powerful worship experience. This is the first time I've been asked to serve for the Christmas program. Was an honor and what...

The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 16

I started out with a MIM Jazz 4-banger. I pretty much had both pickups cranked to max anyway, never experienced the hum, either on DI or through an amp (Ampeg B115). It's really a nice instrument, played great, except a dead spot on around the 8th fret on the high G string. Wish I'd kept it...

The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 15

Hey, all. Last Sunday evening, did a special evening of worship. Lots of songs, celebrated our senior pastor's 10th anniversary. In honor of the event, he got to pick the songs. It was, in some ways, challenging - his taste in Christian music runs the gamut. We went from God is With Us...
