If you did chain them, assuming cab 1's jacks are wired in parallel (like the out jacks on the amp), the signal would split at the jacks on cab 1 and run to each speaker, so if cab 1 failed cab 2 would still receive signal and load the amp (4 ohm out to 8 ohm load, probably won't hurt anything...
