In other threads I’ve seen that gel based solutions work really well on this kind of thing. Don’t worry, that’s not dish soap 😂 It’s scratched to all hell but I don’t mind that, they’ve tried to sand/scratch the original finish off before painting it but that didn’t go to plan by the looks of...

I would definitely do this is if I didn’t already intend to use it as a studio bass! If the pickups sound good I’ll keep them, planning to get some tuners for it and other hardware to replace rusty screws etc :)

Yeah so about that! 2 stock tuners appear to be on it, a random gold one on the E and a Schaller licensed one on the A string hmmmm 😂
