Favorite Genres

I find things to enjoy in pretty much any genre except bro-country and metal. I play pretty much everything, depending upon what the gig requires. I read charts and lead sheets, and have a decent ear. It has to groove.

Gigs and Ensembles

Bandless at the moment, but I've been running the Monday Night Jazz Jam at The Verve in Terre Haute, Indiana for the past decade+ and I've been a busy sub with local and regional bands. I do occasionally gig with my jazz ensemble, Jazz Bullies.

Steinberger L2A, '76 Gibson Thunderbird, '76 Ric 4001, Ibanez single-cut BTB 6, Laklands, Carvins, Fenders, Ovations, ESP, Ibanez, Washburn, Dean, Kramer aluminum, pretty much everything at some point or another, including 8- and 12-string basses.

Influences and Teachers

Kasim Sultan, Chris Squire, John Wetton, Greg Lake, Rocco Prestia, Mel Schacher, Ray Shulman, Paul McCartney (of course), Tony Levin, JT Corenflos, but I am largely self-taught. These days Eric Schatz, a local teacher and brilliant jazz bassist, has been mentoring me whether he's aware of it or not.
