I'm heavily leaning towards the Lindy Fralins, they sound great in videos I've seen. There are two models, one being hum cancelling, and I'm not which direction to go. It appears the 5 string model you have is not hum cancelling.

I play finger style, and very aggressively so. I'm now thinking active EMGs may pick up too much pop and buzz from my heavy fingers (correct me if my assumption is wrong here). I could change my playing style and lighten up, but I'd rather not :) Very helpful, thank you.

I’ve only lightly explored this option, I’m not entirely clear on how an onboard preamp works. Would this give me a cut/boost option for both pickups then a standard tone control?
