i want to buy the sterling ray34 which is listed as passive on musicians friend, but a friend of mine owns one and it is active. If Im not mistaken, the 34 is passive and the 34CA is active. But I've heard many things on the Internet telling me otherwise.

I want to buy an active electric bass for around $800. I'm currently looking at the fender deluxe active jazz and the sterling ray34 active. Which bass is nicer, if not these then please suggest some others.
