I currently have a hartke LH1000 which had the power but not the tone options I would like to have. would a rack mount eq really help me with my live sound? also which rack eq would you recommend?

I am looking to upgrade my pups in my starter bass. I am going to keep them passive. any ideas on getting that nice attack with good mids? play with a pick mostly but also need a good tapping sound.
