I personally run my pedalboard into my audio interface via DI out on my preamp pedal
this is convenient if I've had it plugged in already for recording
alternatively, if I'm not bothered to plug everything in, the preamp pedal (Darkglass Vintage Ultra) has a headphone out with a cab sim (chosen...
Pad switch is working correctly, and I'm using a Harley Benton ISO-2 pro, specifically connected to one of the 9V 300mA outputs - I have checked with another standalone 9v power adapter with the pedal and the issue is the same, plus I had been using the setup for a couple of years now with no...
I've had my EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi pedal for a few years now, and it was working absolutely perfectly until a few days ago.
The gate feature seems to be active even when off (fully counter-clockwise) and when I turn the gate up, it literally doesn't let any signal through. It seems like...
absolutely in love with it, heaviest thing on earth but the tones I can get from it are perfect for my desired sound. gonna be perfect for recording, bedroom practice and special events where I might wanna lug it around (definitely not for regular gigging)
might as well get an Ashdown head and...
yes! I'm buying myself an Ashdown combo for €90 off of a friend's friend, played the exact model in several rehearsal spaces and loved it, so I felt quite lucky to get that deal
thank you all for your input :) really gave me a bit more insight on this, and yeah I probably won't be able to try stuff out too much myself just due to money, but I know I like Ashdown stuff a lot, and hearing that the head does affect the sound significantly would help guide my decision for...
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to amp heads & cabs as I've played pretty much only combo amps so far.. but I was wondering something
how much of an effect do different heads have on tone, when using the same cab?
and vice versa, how much of an effect do different cabs have with the same head...
wanted to share a bass cover I did recently of this rap-rock/RATM-style song by FEVER 333 - used a jazz style bass with flats, and the main tones are coming from the EHX Bass Soul Food > EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi, and the Aguilar Octamizer for the synth-y sections
isn't it great? I was trying to find a jazz bass pickguard in black that would fit, but alas none had the screw holes in the right place. so, a paint brush and some acrylic paint did the trick - you can see the brush strokes better irl, looks cooler than a regular black pickguard imo
I've played the amp model before, but of course not that exact one - however, I absolutely loved it. €90 is indeed a steal, he had it up on Adverts.ie (Irish version of Craigslist, I guess) for €100, and I contacted him personally and he bumped it down for me. i'm a very lucky guy!
glad to hear there's someone else that loves the brand - I totally understand that, I think I was just expecting to see any love at all for them, as opposed to almost nothing
though that new Mixwave Ashdown amp plugin, plus whatever they're doing with Two Notes cab sims is a pretty good sign...
here's a not so great photo of my Vintage VJ74 in Candy Apple Red, with a pretty great photo of it in action :)
owned the bass since 2020 and since then did a lil DIY black paint(brush) job on the pickguard, which has been naturally 'distressed' (chipped paint) with use in a good few gigs this...
