    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

Growing accustomed to the buzz on the low E with regard to my recently obtained Schecter Hellraiser bass vi. Still thinking about having the neck adjustment later and possibly even going to a thicker gauge but I believe I’ve found the holy grail with pickup selection, tone settings and winding...

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

I’ll probably adjust the neck first but if that fails I may just live with it. It’s only doing it on the low E and the other strings sound fabulous. Also, so far for the application I have in mind for the guitar it’s going to work pretty good as it is. I’m using very heavy distortion with a dark...

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

I’m having problems with my Hellraiser not Hellcat but I suppose they’re similar designed so I can apply what you’ve explained. I tried adjusting the saddle but problem remains. It really looks like I’m going to have to go to the heavier string set

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

Upon closer inspection the low e is buzzing past the 2nd fret and I can now see the string is basically sitting flat right on the next fret wire going all the up the neck. I’m pretty sure I’ll just have to do a saddle adjustment on the bridge hopefully

It’s mechanical. It isn’t coming from the nut. The other strings aren’t buzzing except for maybe the a string but not hardly or what would be reasonable. The low e buzz is unreasonable though. It doesn’t buzz when played open so I think it’s a case where it’s the stock string and it’s probably...

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

Maybe my first impressions were a tad skewed with regard to this Hellraiser. I’m just noticing the tremendous and constant buzz from the low e and it isn’t very solid if I control the buzz either. I suppose I would be very satisfied with this bass vi if I can rid it somehow of that buzz on the...

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

Just got the Hellraiser bass vi in. I’m pleasantly surprised. Seller said there would be a small ding near the input jack and you seriously have to squint to see it because it’s very small. Also supposed to be slight wearing off of a small amount of finish on backside of headstock but very small...

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

Thanks again for this informative video upload. I’m seriously thinking about ordering that piezo tunamatic bridge for my Hellcat. Just have to make sure there’s enough room for battery and preamp

The eq looks interesting. I imagine with those large bass pickups and eq config. that the SRC6 is going to potentially have some very unique character when compared to other vi s’. It’s because of this that I will eventually have to break down and get one most likely

I almost pulled the trigger on an SRC6. Very classic look. I’m still very fond of those

There are lots of examples of avant garde blackmetal that use tons of bass. Smohalla, Lugubrum, Dodhiemsgard to name a few. But I’m not sure what’s going to happen with the bass vi in my project yet. Just beginning the experimental stages now.

    The Short-Scale Six-String Club Part 4 - for the original six-string basses!

I’m involved in an avant-garde blackmetal project, it’s not traditional blackmetal and I’m also going for an atmospheric effect with the bass vi so I’m not coming from any kind of low tuning metal perspective

normally I wouldn’t like this type of binding but strangely I think it looks neat with the black cherry finish. The headstock looks decent. I’m not really fond of the Hellcat(which I still own and cherish) headstock though. Overall I’m thinking this Hellraiser vi has a nice gaudy gothic...
