Fender Japan 75 Reissue Jazz w/ vintage 60's jazz pups, Full contact Babicz bridge, and a stellartone tonestyler. Fender American 1990 Precision bass. Has a Bad@ssIII Bridge and Original 62's. My main rig (Don't Hate!!) is an Ampeg SVT 3-Pro with JJ's in the preamp. Vintage ampeg 4x10 and 1x15 cabs. A carvin power conditioner and a Korg DTR 2000 are also wired in and rack mounted. I have an SVT 200T thats collecting dust and a Yorkville xm200 for home practice. Tech21 Sansamp Bass Driver DI. E.H. Smallstone stomp box, MXR envelope filter, E.H. Big Muff pi. Monster-Prolink, rockbass cables. Rhoto sounds or Ernie Ball Hybrid slinkys. In the humid state of Texas Fingerease does wonders, especially for a non satin neck.

Influences and Teachers

The early Motown and funk/fusion pioneers have my respect. Geddy Lee rocks balls. Miller, Clarke, Bailey, Dunn... Mic Todd of Coheed is a beast! Flea has been a godly influence on me. His harmony and feel are awesome and the stage pressence he has is something fierce. I love groove rock and John Paul Jones is a heck of a groovy rock bassist. His new material with Them crooked Vultures blew me away when I got the chance to rock out to it and who does'nt like Zepplin? Noel Redding is also one of my favorites. He does'nt get enough credit and he should for backing Hendrix's awesome and ranting jams. Juan Alderete of the Mars Volta makes me bow down. His work on Day of the Baphomets nearly gave me a stroke when I was trying to learn it (still a work in progress). His speed and precision is in a world of it's own. I like Victor Wooten's approach to the bass in terms of learning and teaching the instrument. He's able to reach beyond what he knows and he listens to others perspectives, especially musicians that don't play bass to begin with. It's the application of that creative interaction and thought between musicians that enhances and evolves music. Claypool is an inspiration for me not particularly because I like to play what he does, but because he's always got a project that he's a part of. When Primus disolved Claypool kept on entertaining and playing some of the tastiest jams I've been lucky enough to hear live. Keeping active and delivering to what many classify as great music is tough and honorable. John Merrit Of College Station, Tx has also been a great influence and friend of mine. He's taught me that you can never stop learning about music or the bass as an instrument and that you should never want to do so. He also taught me to expand my musical horrizon with other genres but more importantly he's given me a drive to one day out groove him haha. That's a story that may never have the ending that I'd like.
