I actually completely stopped using my Precision bass and my 5 string. I really only use my Jazz bass now and I am saving up for a short scale Sire U5. I want to put BEAD strings on a jackson concert series, which has a nice feeling neck for me.

Do you know what the stiffness is like at that gauge compared to standard strings?

Hello everyone! Trying to tune a 34" 4-string to BEAD for the first time. I'm trying to find the thinnest/most flexible strings that still sound good. Not trying to hurt my hands on stiff strings again. I was recommended DR DDT 55-115. What do you all think?

Even for DDT? Other folks have mentioned they are thick enough. I'm just worried about hurting my hands on stiff strings again :(

so it really only works with a pick and light attack? Ok. Would 120 be a happy medium?

Thanks for your reply! I get hand cramps so I’m hoping to find something I can play comfortably. I’ve heard the stiffness of DDT isn’t the same as tension.

I heard someone say they use .50-.115 DR DDT Strings for BEAD tuning. That seems really thin to me. I’m looking for the lowest tension possible with a decent sound for this tuning. What do you think?
