Since the Galli flatwounds I wanted for my new Hadean solid-body were backordered, I ordered the Galli 20.5" tapewounds to tide me over. They are a bit short, in that the thread-wound section is sitting in the nut, but I think the 23" would be too long. I don't know if they will stretch enough...

My bass teacher mentioned an issue with putting flatwounds on the solidbody Hadean. There is a note on Kala's page for the flatwounds, but there is also a buyer comment that they did it. Is the problem because the bridge is held off the body by (in Hadean's case, rather solid-looking) bolts on...

It's going to depend on the song - I was looking for classical music and it likely won't sound 'right'.

That's exactly it - they are playing around the 19th fret - the OscarS and Journeyman only go to 16 (and the 16th sounds bad on the JM) so I'd need to transpose or re-arrange the tab. The new Hadean has more frets, but that high they are super-narrow.

Aaand it may be going back. :-( I had kept the amp volume low before, and when I turned it up to record my lesson the G string is way loud. Like rattle-stuff-on-the-walls loud. Rondo suggested a couple of things to try but they didn't help. Sigh.
