Yes, the .85 was the d'addario. The Labella .95 feels much better. for the price, just go to elderly and search hellcat, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I may paint the underside of the pickguard when I make the next one. First one was just to get the bass functional. BTW, I got labella's from elderly for $8 a set right before Christmas. AND the .85 does NOT hold enough tension for a low E.

I just went for the clear pickguard because nobody would make me a custom pickguard for less than $120, and I couldn't find a piece of tortoise pickguard material big enough on ebay. So, I bought a piece of plexiglass at Lowe's for $9 and used my dremel. The P pickup feeds a separate output...

Standard bass finger technique is a little difficult on all but the bottom 2 strings, but "chicken pickin'" (thumb and 2 fingers) guitar technique works pretty well. Slapping is fairly difficult due to tight spacing, but Reggie Wooten does it on a strat...

I'm not really going for the "traditional" tone of a bass VI, so I am going to try putting a split-p in the middle position for my bass signal. Then a couple of regular guitar pickup for neck and bridge. (tone zone S and cruiser) Keep in mind, I am running separate signal chains entirely...

The day I got my VI, I split the neck pickup to one output for bass, with bridge and middle still switching and feeding a guitar output. Sounds good like this, but I'm thinking of swapping in a whole set of dimarzios. Just need to find a new pickguard. Has anybody else tried this?

Does anyone actually approach this thing as a BASS player? I've only had mine for a month, and I already fired my guitar player! Playing with a keyboard player pretty much eliminates the need for a standard guitar player completely. I love it! And the reduced stage volume is a just one more...
