NAD - QSC K12.2 “for bass”

It really is incredible. The impulse response section includes power amp modelling, which is also why it feels good. You can play around with this and make ir patches on their website. I do use a dual band compressor with mine to tighten up the bottom end for metal. Sounds huge with my Cort Artisan.

NAD - QSC K12.2 “for bass”

No one likes flat and uncolored bro. The whole point of my setup is to hear what I'm sending foh. In order to do this in a di world, my make louder device for stage sound can't be adding any tone. So yes the shiftline adds colour, but because the Yamaha is uncolored, I hear what foh receives...

NAD - QSC K12.2 “for bass”

I've experienced this personally. A great sub just takes it to another level. Levels I don't really care for giving to my bass over the kick if I'm being honest. But my DXR15 gets way closer then you'd think. 49hz or so at -10db is still very deep and leads to a fully amplified and full sounding...

NAD - QSC K12.2 “for bass”

When I was in the market shopping for my current rig, the K12.2 was at the top along with the DXR15. Not sure what this DZR is, maybe a newer series? Anyway, in my real world testing, the DXR15 blew the K12.2 away. Just a bigger, more resonant sound that did more justice to the irs I fed it...

NAD - QSC K12.2 “for bass”

It'll never be 100%, that's just not possible, but a single top gets you far closer to hearing what you are sending foh then your mesa or any other traditional coloured cab ever could.

NAD - QSC K12.2 “for bass”

Do you mic your Mesa cab? If not you're better of using the QSC rig and running a good preamp and impulse response through it.

NAD - QSC K12.2 “for bass”

That's exactly what it does. The speaker only makes louder. All colouration parts of the chain, including cab, are now in the di signal. Works fantastic. I play 5 string by the way. The Yamaha DXR15 handles a low b brilliantly and gets incredibly loud. Might not move as much air as a fridge but...

NAD - QSC K12.2 “for bass”

That's because flat, straight di to desk bass is not that exciting. You're just hearing what countless bassists have been sending foh for ages. Aside from the sansamp of course, the only saving grace for live bass for years. We have traditional amps and cabs for a reason, only soundguys don't...

    Need FRFR/PA speaker recommendation

An frfr speaker shouldn't be adding any tone or mojo, just recreating the mojo you send it. I found the headrush a little coloured and it couldn't be set flat when used as a wedge, meaning you'd hear far more low mids and bass then what you are sending foh, which defeats the purpose.

    Need FRFR/PA speaker recommendation

Take it from someone who has gone the frfr pa speaker route. You get what you pay for. Frfr sound has a very very high ceiling before diminishing returns. A cheap alto/headrush may get the job done, but it's cheap for a a reason. Don't expect brilliant headroom or any real accuracy to what you...

The Music Zoo / Aliexpress (china) custom bass guitar builds

G'day everyone, I'm rather interested in this thread as I have been wanting to put together a custom bass for sometime now. It would be a neck through multiscale 5 string, 35-32, with the ibanez soundgear shape and bridge spacing, 2 emg jx pickups in the scale corrected Warwick thumb positions...

Shift Line - Olympic MkIII Tube Bass Preamp

To my understanding, there's no way to bypass power amp simulation, just like you can't blend it in our out, or bypass the effect. Versatility is not its strong suit, it's very much a one trick pony (be a full tube amp and cab in a box) and it's a very good trick. Also I'm quite sure you have to...

Why use a cab sim? Or am I just doing it wrong?

Why not 100%? I'm speaking as someone who loves cabs and amps. I have a Shiftline Olympic MkIIIs, and I'm very glad that thing is all or nothing. The sound and feel is so good, I can't even imagine wanting to have vanilla di mixed in anywhere near it.

Shift Line - Olympic MkIII Tube Bass Preamp

Fellow Australian here. Just get one. Don't worry about the mid scoop of the tonestack, it cuts just fine in practice. I love mine. I can turn any pa system into a tube fullstack with this thing. It doesn't just sound good, it feels good thanks to the power amp simulation that's part of the...

Even if the soundguy isn't micing your cab?
