I started playing bass at around 15. Lessons being out of the question I learned all I could by listening to my favourite vynil records and audio cassettes (yep, I stopped being 15 over 30 years ago... no internet, no youtube, nothing!) and working out the bass parts by ear. Played in a few bands in the day then life got in the way more than once and carried me away until about 3 years ago. Being in a different situation I felt I really owed it to myself to take the bass up again but with a more 'proper' approach, so I started studying from scratch with a teacher and I am still doing it. The agility in my fingers is back, I keep learning new stuff and although it's hard work and a neverending journey, I'm keeping it up!
